Supersonic soaking treatment method: (1) ...without
NS-2999B
Recommend for use with NS-2999 (nuclide reducing agent)
single agent only. (Before
soaking, please remove rust and sticky material on the object, and
remove grease).
Applicable to "nuclear
power plant solid waste treatment system" (Solid waste
treatment chain).
Required conditions of Ultrasonic Tank:
1.
Power specifications rated 1200 kW and above
2.
The set temperature is 50 - 60 ºC
Applicable range:
1.
For treatment of dismantled
equipment, parts dismantled from nuclear power plant or facility for
general maintenance and repair.
2.
To be used in the pollutant removal of "retired
equipment" and "discarded equipment", to restore and
clean the surface and under layer of the objects from nuclear seed
radiation pollutant - Decommissioning & Decontamination.
Supersonic soaking treatment procedure
(a)
First , perform "grease removal, sticky material and
rust removal" treatment for the solid radiation polluted object
to be treated.
(b)
Pour recommended amount of NS-2999 into the treatment tank,
then place, in batch, radiation contaminated object into the
treatment tank, then set the treatment temperature at 50-60 °C, the
power source above 1200 kW. The
treatment time is dependent on the actual reduction of the
pollutant.
(c)
After Ultrasonic treatment, the object shall be washed with
clean water and measured with instrument to test the value of
pollutant value reduction and record its value.
Until the radiation nuclide’s contaminant value for each
object is absorbed/adsorbed and has been transferred to NS-2999.
The radiation nuclide contaminant value of the originally
contaminated object will be lowered to the background value or
below.
(d) The
more radiation nuclide absorbed/adsorbed in the used NS-2999 in the
ultrasonic treatment tank, the treatment time required for
ultrasonic treatment will be extended.
It will then be necessary to replace with clean NS-2999 and
continue on treatment.
(e) After
treatment is complete, the spent NS-2999 in the Ultrasonic Tank can
be treated following the low level liquid waste treatment process
for the nuclear power plant. (As
described in the attached drawing).
(f)
Post treatment: please refer to nuclear power plant "low
level waste water treatment process"
a. The clean object can be recycled and reused, or consider
as general waste.
b. Treatment of the spent NS-2999:
Please refer to "low level liquid waste treatment"
for treatment. For the
treated waste, the passed waste can be recycled and reuse, or can be
considered as general wastewater.
If failed, then continuous re-circulation treatment until
pass.
c. For
the completely treated nuclear solid waste, please refer to
"nuclear power plant solid waste treatment system" (Solid
waste treatment chain) to reach "volume reduction, waste
reduction, and quantity reduction" objectives.
All wastes having been treated with NS-2999, shall therefore
have contaminant value below the background value.
In case of incineration the residue radiation pollutant in
the ash and flying particles, waste gases from combustion will be
lower than the background value.
(C) Supersonic soaking treatment method : (2) ...with
NS-2999B
It is highly recommend to use NS-2999 (nuclide reducing
agent) and NS-2999B
(nuclear dedicated interface active agent). This provides
Required conditions:
Details as shown in nuclear waste supersonic
soaking treatment management specifications table (II)
Applicable range
1.
Dismantled equipment, parts dismantle from power plant for
maintenance and repair.
2.
To be used in the pollutant removal of "retired
equipment" and "discarded equipment", to restore and
clean the surface and under layer of the objects from nuclear seed
radiation pollutant - Decommissioning & Decontamination.
Supersonic soaking treatment procedure
(NS-2999+NS-2999B)
(a) Remove sticky
material first.
(b) The acid
wash tower is mainly for rusted contaminant object.
(c) The
ultrasonic soaking treatment is similar to that in method (1). The
difference lies in NS-2999B. Follow procedures in method (1)
above, steps b,c,...f.
Post treatment: please refer to nuclear power plant
"low level waste water treatment process" - refer (f) in
method (1) above.
