Schurter Introduces High Current Cord Connectors for Angled Mounting -
Angled Cords Consume Less Space and Minimize Tripping

SCHURTER's new power cord connectors are rated for use with cordage up to 16/21A. Two types, 4789 and 4790 (plug or connector), are angled for closer placement of the equipment to the wall, consuming less space and minimizing the potential for tangling or tripping.

The rewireable cord connectors have pillar terminals for ease of safe and reliable wire connections. Unlike straight plugs, an angled plug is less apt to disconnect from the inlet when someone trips over the cord. The stronger connection assures a safer and more reliable supply of power to the equipment. The size of the strain relief can be specified for a 8.7mm or 10mm (16/14AWG) cable.

Approved according to ENEC 16A / 250V and 21A / 125, 250V UL, CSA, the cord connectors are ideal for higher power consuming equipment found in IT environments, high-end household appliances, power electronics (i.e. power supplies, voltage stabilizers) as well as industrial environments.

PC board mount power entry module offers low profile - Series pre-wires switch and inlet for 3-pin (L, N & E) installation

Schurter's new power entry module, series DC21, is designed to save space and minimize time and cost during the assembly of electronic devices. The AC inlet (IEC/EN 60320-1/C14) and on/off switch functions are internally wired and connect to a printed circuit board with 3-pins (L, N & E). The low profile design eliminates the handling of wires that may risk damage or electro-static exposure to sensitive, integrated circuits. A rear cover further insulates the module from other components. Connecting to a PC board also minimizes emissions that invariably result from the use of wire connections.

The rocker style switch is recessed to avoid accidental actuation. It is available in 1- or 2-poles with a lighted option to provide status indication. The in-rush rating is 100 Amps for 3-4 milliseconds, 5 Amps continuous. Lifetime is rated for 50 thousand cycles at 10 Amps, 250 Volts. The higher in-rush rating is particularly suited for applications that experience transient spikes, such as switching power supplies.

The DC21 is also available with an EMC filter, series DC22, which offers versions for both standard and medical applications. The filter is optimized to attenuate noise in both common and differential modes. For instance, the 1 Amp unit provides up to 60 dB attenuation above 1MHz. The metal case provides an excellent ground by making contact direct to the chassis. Current ratings range from 1-10 Amps, 250 Volts and are approved to UL, CSA and ENEC.

Typical applications include industry sectors that manufacture computers and peripherals, telecommunications and medical equipment, as well as test and measurement devices. Delivery is 4-6 weeks.

Schurter announces "snap-in" power line filter with 20A rating

Schurter recently added a snap-in version of its filtered AC connector designed for use in power supplies rated up to 20Amps at 125 Volts (16A/250V). The compact, integrated unit is designed to improve filter performance in applications with higher power demands.

The AC inlet is designed according to IEC 320-1, type C20, and is combined with a standard or medical grade filter. The combination supplants discrete block filters that are rated between 15-20 Amps. Attenuation is improved by eliminating the bulky wires between the connector and the filter. A better direct path to ground is also achieved. The filter is available with a typical surge withstand (>2.5 kV, L-N), or with added surge capability (>4 kV, L-N).

The C20F is ideally suited for power supplies and distribution units with power ratings up to 3500 Watts. Applications include information technology according to IEC/EN 60950 and medical equipment according to IEC/EN 60601. The C20F is also suited for general industrial applications that would benefit from the convenience of a removable cord.

Fused Shuttered Outlet Type 4719

Schurter's new type 4719 offers what we believe to be the worlds first fused shuttered outlet. It is a highly compact module with the advantage of an integrated fuseholder and neon indicator to save space and production time on assembly.

The fused outlet is already receiving great interest as an excellent solution for protecting the output from power supplies and distribution units, as well as medical and industrial equipment. The advantage of this innovation is that if the equipment supplied by the outlet fails, the protection of the fuse means that this does not result in the loss of operation of the supply unit, and so it can continue to function and supply other outlets.

The fuseholder for 5x20mm fuses is shockproof PC2 and is rated to IP65. The outlet features the additional protection of shutters over the live and neutral contacts, and it is available with or without indicating neon. The live solder terminal is offset to allow for parallel busbar connection of multiple outlets, and with a wide range of snap- in panel thickness sizes available it facilitates fast and easy fitting. The outlet requires a cut- out of only 37mm by 33mm, with a depth of 36.2mm, saving space on the panel and inside the unit. The body of the 4719 inlet is made from UL94-V0 thermoplastic, with solder tab terminals, other options are available on request.

The outlet is designed to comply with IEC/EN 60320-2-2/F, and is available in class I or class II protection. The fuseholder meets IEC/EN 60127-6 and has a power acceptance at ambient air temperature Ta 23°C of 1.6W. Approvals for VDE and cURus at 250V/10A.

The new appliance coupler GSF1 pick and place from Schurter, a further type in our successfull GSF-family

There is an increasing demand for appliance couplers, which are suitable for an automatic pcb-board assembling. Due to this customer requirement we developed our appliance coupler GSF1 pick and place.

The new GSF1 pick and place is automatically assembled on the pcb-board by the manufacturing robot. The parts are supplied in ESD-conform blister tapes to 250 pieces.

There is a direct customer benefit in saving costs because of the shorter assembling time. The safety of the product user is increased thanks to an additional mechanical assembling on the pcb-board and the rear side position of the fuseholder. The usage of unsuitable fuse-links by the product user is therefore much more difficult.

The GSF1 pick and place is deliverable without; with 1- or 2-pole fuseholder.
